Daily Fashion Show: Asian Inspired Vintage

Sorry I've been MIA, I just moved and haven't been able to set up the Internet in my apartment. So, I decided to visit my sister (and photographer) to give you all what you've been missing this past week, fashion shows!

I bought this vintage dress at a trendy consignment shop over a year ago in Savannah, GA. I've been accessorizing it a bunch of different ways but I think today's is so far, my favorite.

I borrowed this adorable Asian-inspired tie from my sister and thought the colors and pattern would play together well with my dress.

Also, any excuse to wear my pin-up rosette stilletoes!

I loaded up on chunky, beaded necklaces to match the dot pattern on my dress as well as play up the vintage look.

I'm hoping to get my Internet up and running soon. I miss you guys and hope you'll take my load up of entries today as penance!

Monthly Mag Challenge: Polka Dots with Fearne Cotton

This month's Mag Challenge goes out to the August issue of Lucky! This challenge was surprisingly difficult actually, as I do not have any polka dots in my wardrobe at all! How did that happen?? What I was attracted to most about this trend was it's contrasting styles, inspired by Britain's VJ Fearne Cotton.

The ensemble on Fearne is sweet dots (or spots as the Brits say) toughened up by leather and tough sparkles.

For my sweet pieces, I thought my petal skirt from Modcloth was a great substitute for polka dots. I also borrowed a chiffon wire wrap headband from work to complete the look.

My tough pieces include the patent leather stretch belt and my leather Vince Camuto's.

And for my sparkles, I chose my rhinestone button earrings from Forever 21 and an old sequin clutch I received as a gift a few years ago.

I definitely had a lot of fun with this challenge, I hope I did justice for Fearne's look!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Running Essentials

Since this week officially marks my first week of training for the half-marathon, I thought I share with you my running essentials and tips for looking cute when hitting the trails.

1. Be comfortable. My favorite tops to run are sports bra tanks because they are close to the skin and soak up sweat with Cool Max fabric. Also, they cling to your curves if you've got em for easy movement.

2. Keep Track. I wear a running watch that has a GPS in it so it can not only time me during my run, but calculate my speed and mileage. It even has a mile alarm so I know how far I've got to go.

3. No Fuss. Or frizz for that matter. Whenever I run, I always wear my sport foam wrap to keep the frizz and sweat from bothering me. Bright colors and prints can be found at Claire's!

4. Look Cute. I got this pink running skirt last year when Chris and I did the Skirt Chaser 5K. It has built in underwear and keeps you light and airy on your run. Plus, you look super cute!

5. Personalize. I bought these cute, pink laces for my running shoes. Not only are they my favorite color, but they also never come undone or need to be tied. Bought them at a running store in town.

Hope I inspired you all to get out and hit the trails while looking hot! Wish me luck in the next weeks to come!

Hit List: Zombieland

Though it may seem a little strange, I've been seeing a lot of zombie-themed apparel and accessories around lately. Perhaps it is a spin-off from vampires? Zombies seem a little more gory, definitely takes guts (no pun intended) to wear it and pull it off. Some of the items look a bit vintage, my favorites are the Audrey Hepburn tee and the book. I've heard it's actually pretty funny. Hope you all enjoy the gore fest today!

1. Audrey Hepburn Zombie Tee- Hot Topic $22
2. Devolve Tee- Hot Topic $19-22
3. Zombie Heels- Iron Fist $45
4. Marc Jacobs Zip-Shopbop.com $38
5. Victorian Zombie Plate- BeatUpCreations' Shop on Etsy $42
6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book- Modcloth.com $24.99

Daily Fashion Show: Lace and Frills

Decided to be ultra girly today with lots of bows! I used one of my Grandmother's vintage lace scarves and tied it around my head for a fun, summer headwrap. My skirt also carried the bow theme as well as flowers to play up the girl factor.

I love these purple flowers in front of my house. When they bloom, they are absolutely beautiful.

The day was sunny and not too hot, perfect for wearing a tank and a skirt to work. The sun was definitely refreshing in my face (and pictures!).

Last item....the shoes. Worn in many of my daily fashion shows, but wanted to highlight them today. They are a very unique shape, a hybrid, of wedges and ankle strap pumps. Can look vintage or hard rock, if accessorized correctly. I think they are from Famous Footwear or DSW, bought so long ago the tag is worn off on the inside. Definitely a great find!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Brooches and Baubles

Want to know the best way to jazz up a stale ol' necklace? Grab a vintage brooch or pin and play around! I chose one of my Grandma's necklaces and pinned on a brooch I got as a gift a few years ago to spice up the necklace and give it a whole new dimension.

I loved the sparkles and stars together, perfect in space and apparel!

Have a little fun next time you decide to accessorize and mix things up with your jewelry pieces. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Daily Fashion Show: Anthro Spree #2

I didn't forget that I still had to show you the rest of my Anthropologie shopping spree. So, here's another beautiful piece from the spree that I've actually already worn about 3 times. I seriously love this skirt. It's super flattering, flowy, and of course, girly!

I love the sharp lines of the skirt against the flowy skirt and strings of fabric on my back. What a fun contrast!

Blue and black and white are my new favorite colors together. I've literally worn this combination every week with different pieces and I just can't stop! Hope you all are having a great week!

Weekly Secret Weapon: All Day Color

Lately, I've been told how cool my eyes have been looking so I decided to share a few of my secrets and the steps to get really colorful eyelids that last all day long!

Step 1: Use an eye primer. It smooths out the skin on your eyelid and keeps even the cheapest of eye makeup on your lid. I use Ulta brand's primer and it does just fine.

Step 2: Line the bottom and top of lid on the inside. This makes your eyes really pop.

Step 3: Choose your look. I'll show you two of my favorites, the half and half, and the all-over crease. Both are dramatic and full of color.

For the half and half look, choose a darker color and sweep on outer half of eyelid. I tend to make a little cat eye curve upward for drama.

Then, use a lighter color of the same shade on the other half of the lid and blend. I also sweep a little in the corner of my eye for some shine.

Always finish off with mascara!!

For the all-over crease look, choose a bright color and apply all over the lid. Again, I usually do a cat eye sweep in the corner.

Then choose another color of the same color family and use in the crease to create a contrast.

Again, finish with mascara.

And voila, you're done! Two fun looks with bright colors that stay on all day.

Now.... go brighten your day!
