Daily Fashion Show: Layer it Up

Lots of layers today since it decided to slightly flurry and freeze the F up today in Chicago. Ugh, felt my first bone chill today....but I decided to bear the cold by layering it up!

Threw on some rocker blue eye shadow and lots of necklaces and a fun, fring-y scarf. It gave lots of texture and blended great with my necklaces.

The blue was my pop color with all the browns, definitely brightened up this frigged day!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Triple Threat

This week's Secret Weapon is about combining my strengths by using 3 of my signature looks for a triple threat: DIY necklaces, mixing prints, and fun and flirty socks. Like other DIY necklaces, I chose a multi-row neck with huge, chunky beads and finished it off with a sparkly pin to mix it up a bit.

I'm always partial to the mixing a matching of prints so today was no different. This time, I chose the same print, but in two different scales. I think it really gave the ensemble something fresh and new. It is subtle, but unexpected.

Lastly are the socks. Absolutely loving this trend and wearing them all the time. These are so freaking cute with the little stud and bow detail on the back. It's slightly sexy but in a flirty, not slutty way.

So, when all else fails, take out the big guns and wear it all for one fabulous ensemble!

Daily Fashion Show: Sparkle!

Ok, so I've noticing that a lot of my postings lately are about sparkles, but I just love them. Seriously can't get enough. They make you feel pretty, girly, and well, happy, so why not talk about it? Yet again, I'm wearing something super sparkly, but this time, it's on my legs!

I wait every year at about this time to bust out my gold sparkle tights and I'm so excited to get to put them into my rotation (at least for the next couple of months). I typically don't wear brown, but I love this belt and of course, my boots, so I thought the brown went well with the gold tones on my legs.

Sort of played jungle gym in my complex's entry way, it was fun and challenging. Seriously, how did I always do the monkey bars with ease as a child? I had a hard enough time holding myself up on this stair for 10 seconds!!! It was still really fun though and I think it was the shorts. They just make me feel happy and playful. MUST BUY MORE!

Weekly Secret Weapon: DIY Necklace

This week's Secret Weapon is all about making your own necklace! As you all know, I typically layer on a bunch of different things, whether it's clothing, accessories, you name it so I thought why not do it with jewelry?

I picked a multi-strand necklace, a choker, and a vintage pin and looped it all together for a really fun piece!

I also layered my clothing today with a long tunic, sparkly vest, and a belt over the vest. Gave me a waistline as well as mixed it up a bit.

Wore my little cowboy-esque booties today for a more relaxed feel while still feeling fun and flirty.

Hope this helps next time you want to layer it up, especially now that it's getting a little colder out, which means, party season!

Hit List: Burlesque-Esque

Is anyone else a little fired up for the new X-tina/Cher movie, Burlesque? Well, I'm interested and couldn't help but find a bunch of retailers showing it in the best way possible, fashion! Since it all has a vintage feel, of course I'm excited, but there some fun, new twists I found that may appear on my Christmas list this year. There is lots of lace, beading, fringe, and a little touch of nature. I love the slip from Anthropologie as well as the crazy-fun headband from Modcloth. Maybe I'll even dress it up when I go see the movie, how fun?!

Daily Fashion Show: Finally Fall

So the weather here in Chicago is always tricky and seasons never really start or end on time, but I think it's safe to say it's Fall. We had several warm days last week, but I'm sticking to wearing leggings, tough boots, and sweaters regardless.

I layered up today with leggings, a short dress, and a fun, printed cardigan all topped off with a belt and serious boots.

I've never really gotten into boots, that is, until I started buying them for my job! They were always fun but way out of price range. But I seriously changed my mind and think it's definitely worth the investment now. They are so cozy, a fun way to dress down dresses and skirts, and especially fun to layer on legwear. I'll definitely be buying more of these puppies as the weather makes it's final shift into snow!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Old Schooling It

Want to know the best way to spice up your wardrobe? Pull out some oldies and make them fun and funky for now!

I held onto these little puppies since I was a kid and have been waiting to bust them out until now. Seriously love how they give a nod to the 80s, plus make a loose-fitted top snug around your curves!

Paired with skinny jeans and suede booties, I think the little t-shirt rings look totally modern and fun! Not really sure what the proper name of these are, when I was kid (back when I wore these everyday, I called them do-dads or thing-a-ma-bops. Hmmm, guess we'll settle for t-shirt ring then....

Who knew oldies could be so fun? I highly suggest dragging some out today and old schooling it!

Daily Fashion Show: Bow-tastic

So you all know that I'm nothing but a girl's girl. So, what better way to bring out the girly with bows?! Got this cardigan on my shopping trip a few weeks ago and just fell in love with the bow detail on the pockets.

Why not add another bow? Used a thrifted necktie as a belt and tied it off with a bow! Also paired it with some fun tights, to give it even more of a girly edge.

Overall, the color palette is very soft and romantic, true to my girly ensemble. Guess I just felt like emphasizing my personality today in the best way, through fashion!
