Hit List: Velvet Party Things

While browsing the internet shopping mall this week, I found tons of velvet out there. But it wasn't just plain ol' velvet, everything had a little something to it. Whether it was stones or glitter, velvet bows and flowers, or made into something totally unexpected (the velvet flower ring), it all seemed very party girl and I knew it was a hit. My favorites include the ring from Ruche.com, sparkle shoes from Modcloth, and the dress from Topshop. I simply can't wait to go to some holiday parties now, how about you go get yourself invited to some fabulous parties so you can strut your velvet?!

Daily Fashion Show: Shorts and Chains

Decided it would be super fun to wear shorts with tights! I saw these out shopping with my sis a couple of weeks ago and fell in love. Perfect neutral for pairing with bright tops or tights.

Also layered up on necklaces today. Really, I just couldn't decide which one I wanted to wear so I decided to wear them all.

I felt fun and sassy without being too sexy (for work that is). Definitely recommending shorts my fellow fashionistas!

Daily Fashion Show: Pretty in Pink

Felt super pink and pretty today in my chiffon top with lots and lots of sparkles. When I saw this, I knew it was me. Frilly, girly, sparkly...what more could a girl ask for?

Had to tone it down with my new riding boots. Love the crest detail and the two-toned effect. Makes it a little more flexible.

Love my backdrop? Venetian blinds are awesome! Not. Why is it getting dark out earlier? It's definitely depressing. That either means that I leave work to late, or I'm living in the wrong state. Oh well, brighten the days up with sparkly things girls!

Daily Fashion Show: Michael Jackson Jacket

Found the most amazing jacket at a thrift store a month or so ago in Missouri. This thrift store was crazy, stuff everywhere and barely any offering of clothing. I was super lucky to find this crumpled in a ball in the corner of the store. I loved that it was real leather and that it was super bright green!!! Wee! It definitely had a Michael Jackson-esque look to it.

Decided to soften up the tough look of the jacket and hard lines of the shoulders with a flowy top and pearl necklace. Gave it a little bit of contrast.

Also pulled out some old earrings that mix hard beads with feathers, yet another contrast to this look. Had fun with this look today, and all of the looks I got too!

Daily Fashion Show: Shopping Spree Style

Had a little pre-birthday shopping spree with my sister this weekend and seriously scored! I've never had so much luck in one trip, I think she was the charm! Decided to be cute and relaxed for the trip and HANDS-FREE! Yes, I wore a belt bag. And no, it's not a fanny pack, it's a belt bag!

It fit all my stuff perfectly and allowed me to carry more shopping bags, wee! Also busted out an oldie, my rhino necklace. Totally love him!

I also wore some super fuzzy socks with my boots. Kept me warm and cozy on my trip to the mall.

Don't know if I was her charm or she was mine, or maybe it was the rhino, but we had the best trip to the mall in awhile!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Pin-tastic

Who says you can't be a princess? I decided to sparkle it up today by using one of my Grandmother's vintage brooches as a tiara-type accessory! It was super easy, and made me feel great all day long.

Since my hair is so thick, I just stuck the pin into my bun and clasped it (and it stayed!). But for those of you with finer hair, once you put your hair up, just pin it to your elastic tie.

My favorite part about this ensemble is the mixture between elegant, and totally rocker. That's the great thing about a simple black dress, you can do anything with it! I just chose some textured tights, a buckle stretch belt, and suede booties to turn this look into something a little edgier.

It has been a request of several that I start posting where my clothing and accessories are from so, here we go!

Dress: H&M
Belt: Came with a dress from Bebe

Brooch: Vintage
Necklace: I'll save this for another date...

Enjoy!!!

Hit List: Horse of Another Color

As a follow up to my last post, I thought I'd find some newer horse-themed items. Afterall, my skirt was over a year old! Didn't think I'd get so lucky finding the amazing pieces I stumbled upon, but there is a lot of cute horsey stuff out there. Seriously love the floral chiffon dress with the horse pin from Net-a-Porter (I know, it's expensive), the ring from Urban (also expensive), and the yellow satchel from Modcloth (ok, so it's sold out). Nearly all of these items came from Modcloth and the great thing about this site, is that you can sign up to get notified when the sold out item comes back in stock. Sweet! So, buck up and get your saddle on my fellow fashionistas. Horses are stampeding into your closet this Fall!

2. Floral Chiffon Dress with Horse Pin- Net-a-Porter.com $1,585

4. Horse Ring- Urban Outfitters $100
5. Yellow Satchel- Modcloth $112.99
6. Horse String Lights- Modcloth $24.99

Weekly Secret Weapon: Cinch, Sminch

What do you do when the trend is cinched waists and some of your cutest belts are too long? Re-create of course!

I picked one of my favorites, a studded hip belt, and decided to make it work for that hourglass shape. Luckily for me, this belt already had a little stretch in it so I could literally tie it, but if yours doesn't, then just loop the end around the belt to make a fun pretzel look!

So grab your belts, scarves, etc and don't be afraid to cinch in that beautiful waist of yours, even if you have to be a little more creative about it.

Daily Fashion Show: Eclectic Lady

Been loving the amount of crazy combos I've been seeing lately and decided to be super eclectic today. I paired an animal top with my tapestry belt and deep green tights.

Accessorized with a vintage bow pin with a cute little cherry print as well as my glasses. Ugh, totally need to go to the eye doctor since I'm out of contacts but I actually liked them with this ensemble.

Last bit of quirkiness is my back drop....super fall and super fun! Had to pose with the pumpkins! Happy Fall all!
