Daily Fashion Show: New Heights

Took today's fashion show to new heights, both in location and hemline! Wore an old romper in bright blue and found this tie-dye flower laying around that I thought would look great against the romper and color of my bag. I don't typically wear shorts, but I think I'm warming up to it lately. The weather is so damn hot that I kind of have to! I especially thought the sky was beautiful today so why not have it as my background? And to top it all off, I wore a rhinestone encrusted turtle ring to play up the summer theme of my ensemble. It better cool off a little, I really can't go much shorter than this!

Weekly Secret Weapon: Emphasizing the Chest

If I've learned one thing from years of shopping for prom/homecoming and dresses for weddings, it's what neckline emphasizes your chest. And for those of you A cups out there like me, it's the sweetheart. But not all shirts and dresses come in this neckline, in fact, it's not as easy to find as you think. So instead of searching high and low for the sweetheart neckline of your choice, make your own!

Here is your basic tube top. Cute in pattern, but doesn't really do much for me in the chest area. Well, all you have to do is add a pin, and.....

.....instant enhancement! I used a vintage brooch here as I always love a little sparkle, but you can always use a large safety pin for a more basic look.

Now, you're ready to go out a feel confident and beautiful. And, slightly larger in the chest (or at least appearing like you do!).

Monthly Mag Challenge: The Darkness

One of my favorite things about getting fashion magazines each month are the trend and inspiration collages that featured. I thought, how fun would it be to use these pages as a challenge to myself and dress like the magazine? This month's mag challenge is brought to you by the July issue of Nylon. I was especially challenged by this trend as it is completely different from my personal style: studs, spikes, and leather and darkness really aren't my forte. But, I definitely had fun with it and hope you all agree, how versatile a vintage girl really can be!

Daily Fashion Show: Anthro Spree Outfit #1

As promised, here is your first installment of the Anthropologie shopping spree I gave myself a few weeks ago. The first top I chose to showcase today is the beautiful, water-colored top that is embroidered with beads on the sleeves, as well as pin-tucked in the waist going in a gradual width across the piece. It is just amazing in so many ways and I'm so glad I decided to splurge a little on this.

I played around with my hair today too and did an update of the ol' zig-zag part. Instead of parting, I twisted pieces across my scalp and pinned on the other side to create a zig-zag. Totally fun, right?

I just felt so girly today so I decided to pair it up with my rosette pin up stilettos. Not easy to wear all day, but definitely fun and flirty!

Tune in next time for your next installment of my Anthro shopping spree!

Daily Fashion Show: True Menswear

What's more manly than your boyfriend's shirt? He left it at my house so I took advantage of it and belted it at the waist to give myself a little definition. Paired some super sparkly button earrings to play up the feminine in this ensemble. My favorite part about them is that they look like clip-ons but they aren't (wee!) so they can be worn all day. And if you're curious about my hair, I actually created a little pin curl, yet another way to pit masculine and feminine against each other.

Weekly Secret Weapon: Old Accessories for New Ones

This week's secret weapon focuses on reusing scarves, neckties, and other accessories in order to create a new one, like a belt! As you may know, cinching at the waist definitely helps to create that hourglass figure and helps to make your waist look super tiny (and who doesn't want that?). I decided it would be fun today to use a vintage scarf and necktie as a belt today.

I loved the contrasting colors of the stripes so basically, I knotted them together and, viola! Instantly it becomes a fun, new belt. This can be done with many items including scarves, ties, tulle, pieces of fabric, ribbon, and even jewelry to add texture.

It's so much fun to mix and match to create new accessories out of old ones. Hope I've inspired you to play around a bit with your existing accessories to create a whole new look!

Hit List: No Mustaches About It

I've been seeing the mustache come through lately as a motif and decided to explore my curly curiosity. Not only are they in apparel and jewelry, but also novelty gifts such as the bandages and window clings. I even saw pillowcases and snow globes, all growing out the curly looking thing. Why mustaches? Is fashion cycling back to the Western front? Would definitely explain the cowboy boots, hats, and buckles. And hey, we all like a little mystery, right?

1. Mustache Tee- Modcloth $24.99
2. Sesame Street Mustache Tee- Hot Topic $19-21
3. Acrylic Mustache Ring- Modcloth $37.99
4. Metal Mustache Ring- Hot Topic $10
5. Mustache Bandages- Urban Outfitters $ 7
6. Mustache Clings- Urban Outfitters $5

Weekly Secret Weapon: Clip-ons!

As I've mentioned before, I was lucky enough to inherit my Grandmother's vintage jewelry collection. I wear a lot of the pieces daily, but some are more difficult to incorporate more frequently than others. I've been playing around with different ways to wear clip-on earrings in a fresh, new way!

There are several ways to wear old, vintage gems. Today, I decided to wear these beauties in my hair and clipped on my shoes.

There are many other ways to wear them: used as sweater clips, clipped on necklaces for added charms, purse clips, and if you're brave....on your ears (ouch!). I suggest only wearing them on your ears for a few hours, or investing in stick-on padding to put on the clip for a little ease on your ears.

It's definitely fun to bring back these clips...now show me yours!
