Summer Shoes

Got another Victoria's Secret catalog in the mail and decided to check out what was available to buy online. Naturally, the items I circled were out of stock in my size (for everything!) and then I decided to check out their shoe collection. To my surprise, they offer a lot of really cute and moderately priced shoes.

"Lucky girl" in the Streets

Had a bachelorette party this weekend and I went all out. Check out my "Lucky Girl in the Streets" pic as well as a couple of other ones I sneeked pre-martini.

Without You

Today is a very personal day for me that I have chosen to share with you all. It is the two-year anniversary of my mother passing and I can only think to commemorate this day with a song and one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. This song hold so many truths as the days so go by and go on, though some are harder than others, I know my mom is smiling down on me and making each day pass with the love I have in my heart for her. So I am going to borrow some words from RENT and honor today by saying--No day, but today...

Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows.
Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play.
The stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you.
The earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.

Orange, orange....nothing rhymes with orange

Lately I've noticed a culmination of orange accessories in my collection. Here are a couple of outfits showcasing these pieces.
Gap dress, Silence + Noise nautical cardigan, orange leather belt from the Gap, and David Aubrey necklace (close-up below).

My head got cut off in the first picture, yet this one is blurry. Together...they make the perfect photo.

Close up of necklace. I loved the mixture of orange, green, and bronze strands of beads. I also love the big, square-shaped charm with flowers carved in.

Check out my white-hot nails! And no, it's not white-out.

Totally loving my big, bombshell hair (how did that happen?) paired with my H&M watercolor, swirled dress, Gap striped and lace cardigan, and Erin Gallagher orange rosette necklace.

The little dots in the lace trim mimic the swirls and the stripes in the cardigan are a perfect contrast.

My Search for the Comfortable Shoe

For past two months, I have been suffering through a knee injury called patellofemoral syndrome, or runner's knee. This has definitely put a damper on my training for the marathon this year as I am still doing physical therapy twice a week and had various other doctors and procedures done. Recently, I have gone to have a gait analysis, which is having yourself video-taped while running and then a therapist walks you through the different ways your joints move. She gave me a bunch of new exercises, in addition to the other 20 I do at physical therapy. I also went and saw a podiatrist and am getting orthodics made for my running shoes. So not only am I totally discouraged in my training and daily functions as I am no longer able to use running as my outlet for frustration, but I am also in the search for more comfortable shoes, yikes! I 've gone to a couple of shoe stores that are supposed to carry arch supportive shoes, but as I entered not one, but all of them, I found myself browsing the rows of shoes with a significantly older crowd. Also, very discouraging. I even tried looking online and failed to find anything remotely cute or affordable. What I have found is that Birkenstocks are incredibly comfortable but not really my style, until I went on their website and Zappos. Here are some pictures of my findings:

Even Birkenstock got on the graffiti trend!

These were kind of cute, in a Arizona brand kind of way.

Loved the braiding detail on these, though I'm not sure that the T-strap right for me.
I saved the best for last. These are absolutely adorable and I am seriously considering buying these. That have that gladiator effect and arch support to boot! Maybe there is a silver lining to this afterall!

Rainy Day

Decided to brighten up this rainy day with some COLOR! I love this blood-orange dress from H&M. The sweetheart neckline is perfect for those who are not so blessed in the upper region. Also, this dress has removable straps to convert to a strapless! I paired it with one of my grandmother's sashes and my tan pointelle cardigan from Old Navy. To top it off, I mixed some vintage bracelets and bright, modern bangles to give a funky twist to the outfit. I even added a cameo pin that really gave it that vintage look. Well, I hope this brightened your day and yikes, I need a haircut!

Hippie Headwraps

Hippie headwraps have been emerging on the scene since early last year supported by celebrities such as Mischa Barton, Ashley Simpson, and (dare I even say it) Stephanie Pratt. While I do not flaunt this trend, due to the fact that it makes my ears stick out like dumbo, I have recently noticed that girls aren't necessarily wearing the traditional wrap with feathers and beads that you tie around your head, they have started wearing beautiful beaded and embroidered headwrap slightly tilted onto their foreheads. I even wore this on New Year's this past year!
This one is from Urban (of course!) Do I really shop there that much? Seriously!

So the question remains, do girls actually wear the ones that hang down in the back with feathers like the whole Pocahontas look? I have yet to have seen this. Perhaps it was just for the celebrities!
