Weekly Secret Weapon: Mixing Prints

True to form, this week's secret weapon is about mixing it up....patterns that is! I've always been a fan of this and now I'm here to show you how.

First, pick the piece you want to match. Start with either a skirt or a shirt that has a pattern with a bunch of colors. I chose the Monet-esque skirt as my starting off point.

Next, pick out an accent color in this piece. I chose the hints of lime and yellow to bring out.

Then, find another piece that contains those same colors. They can be in slightly different shades to give a little more depth.

Last, try to break up the prints with something neutral-colored. I chose a thick, black belt. You could also use a scarf or even a jacket or cardigan on top.

Oh, and don't forget to accessorize! This can also be done in the same theory with bringing out an accent color. The strands of lime green and white pearls were perfect for this.

Now don't be shy, break out some of you printed skirt and shirts and try to mix it up! Here is another one I did back in the archives.
