Vintage Monday

Decided I'd kick off the week with my newest addition to my wardrobe, my vintage blouse I got at The Clothing Warehouse. The shirt unfortunately did not come with a tag so I have no idea who made it or where it's from, but it's all the same, simply elegant. I felt as though the vertical tucks in the shirt went perfectly with my navy blue pinstripe skirt. I also paired it with a Joli necklace, borrowed from my sister, and gave it a color pop with my blue flowered bangle from Claire's.

I love the puffy sleeves, don't you?

Layered Day

Did some layering today to reinvent one of my favorite dresses (that was a bit too short to be wearing on its own to work). I love making old items new again by just adding a layer or new accessory. In the past, I've only layered skirts under each other to make it appear fuller or add more color, but using a dress with a skirt layered over it really changed up this outfit. I paired it with one of Grandmother's fabulous necklaces, a stretch belt from Bebe, and some really old flower cut out shoes from Payless.

Mixing it up with Marc

I mixed things up a little on Monday with patterns and prints and wore the perfect compliment, my new Marc Jacobs bag! I love this color green and the leather is so soft. Even the lining is unique and fun with a black and white scrambled name print. And to top it off, I threw in a couple of my grandmother's accessories with an amazing mini bib necklace and clip-on earrings I used as barrettes.

The Clothing Warehouse

I spent this past weekend in Savannah, Georgia for a wedding and naturally did some shopping. I went into Marc Jacobs, Birkenstock, and a bunch of local boutiques. My favorite stop was a vintage clothing store called The Clothing Warehouse. When I walked in, I was greeted by two trendy and extremely friendly sales girls, racks and displays of vintage dresses and accessories, and the tunes of the Beastie Boys. The store was very edgy, merchandising clothes against the exposed brick backdrop. I started browsing the store and before I knew it, I had found numerous items I loved! The patterns were so fun and original, nothing like you could get in stores now. It was a great shopping experience because the sales girls were so enthusiastic, sneaking items into my dressing room just for fun. There was even an employee pick section that offered the coolest items in the store, hand-picked by the sales girls themselves. After trying on all of the treasures I had found, I felt compelled to take pictures of their store and ask numerous questions. To my surprise, The Clothing Warehouse is a franchise, operating primarily in the Southwest, with stores in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and New York. They get their clothing mostly from donations as well as shopping estate sales. They offer men and women's clothing, with a decent-sized accessory section.
I can only hope that I will visit another Clothing Warehouse to fall in love, yet again.

Gypsy Chic

Today I felt a bit gypsy. I absolutely love this skirt I've had for years. The beading is perfect as it requires no belt and is enough of an accessory on it's own. I felt a tad inspired today by the House of Harlow headwrap found at Kitson's Boutique. Mine is a vintage necklace of my Mom's from the 70's.

Beaded Skirt from Gadzooks (Eeeeks!)
GAP basic tee
Vintage necklace and acrylic ring
Kelly and Katie yellow snakeskin sandals

Dance party! Just wanted to show off the beaded waistline.

My "ice cube" acrylic ring is totally 80's but I love it!

Flower Power

Featured in this month's Lucky was a real flower necklace from Saipua in Brooklyn, NY. This necklace is amazing made from phalaenopsis orchid flowers. In looking at their website, Saipua is primarily a flower shop specializing in centerpieces and decorative flowers. They also make their own soap from olive oil in house as well as license this product with over 100 stores nationwide.

This necklace would be absolutely gorgeous for a special occasion such as wedding or anniversary. I was insprired and found a fake flower ring that I sported to work today.

Closing the gap....

Did a little shopping this weekend and stopped into the Gap for some basics. To my surprise, I found myself picking up shirts, cardigans, and camis made from 100% recycled fibers. They were soft, bright, and buying them made me feel like I was taking part in the ever-growing organic clothing movement. It seemed as though all of the articles and editorials I was reading designated organic clothing for top designers, but I am thrilled that the Gap is offering affordable and environmentally-conscious clothing to it's customers. Read the last press release from Gap Inc. on this issue.

WILD Concert

Last week, my boyfriend brought me to a Nine Inch Nails concert. While I was a slightly apprehensive about it(seeing as I don't really listen to them or that genre at all) I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the fashion. EVERYONE was wearing animal print. Whether it was on their shoes, t-shirts, or accessories, it apparent that people were grasping onto this trend in every possible way. Here are my favorites including this animal print bag (in every animal print possible with a pop of neon) and a zebra-striped flower.
