Horsies on Tuesday

My outfit today is all about mixing and matching. Whether it is materials, fabrications, or just an overall attitude, I felt the urge to mix it up today.

Bought this skirt awhile ago from Urban and haven't managed to blog about it until now. I absolutely fell in love with the horse motif. It is so kitchy, yet chic. I paired it with a soft, fleece-like lace trimmed top (also from Urban) and gray tights from Target.

The pyramid-studded headband gave this outfit an edge.

Also displaying a few Christmas gifts, new nailpolish: Jade, by Chanel and Fossil watch. I love the hard plastic band against the shiny rhinestoned face.

Last mix: my background. Like the two-toned effect of my bedroom? It's a baby pink girly and hot pink punk.

Beads and Baubles

I've been getting into really beaded hairgoods lately and decided instead of paying a fortune for extremely faceted beaded headwraps and seed-beaded headbands, I decided to use my Grandmother's necklaces as headpeices.

This purple one is a multi-row necklace that I twisted together and pinned in my hair with a million bobbypins. I felt very glamorous all day as if I had a crown on.

I paired this was a deep purple cardigan from The Gap and a lace top from Delia's to give it an extra feminine feel to the overall outfit.

Happy Holidays

As the countdown is quickly dwindling down to Christmas, I thought I'd spread the happiness with a couple of pictures in front of my mantle. What better way to do it in a new, cute top?!
Got this shirt at Urban Outfitters and absolutely fell in love with the sweetheart neckline. It's slightly sweet, slightly sexy, and even long enough to wear with leggings! Hope you all have a great holiday filled with family, laughter, and present :)

Emma Pillsbury: Fashionista

Since Fall TV has started, I eagerly wait for Wednesday so I can tune into Glee:) Not only does this show make my high school music-geek heart warm, but I have absolutely fallen in love with Emma Pillsbury's wardrobe. Her vintage accessories and color pallet are perfect. I even love how her wardrobe offers trends such as military jackets and statement necks, but done in a vintage way with embroidered appliques and brooches. In the episode when she tried on her wedding dress and sang "I Could've Danced All Night," I fell in love with her beaded headwrap that looked very Jennifer Behr inspired. The bright pops of color are a breath of fresh air and make me want to buy a bunch of party cardies immediately. And the sweater clips!!! I'm simply waiting for some time to make one with my old clip in earrings, since they are impossible to find. All in all, Emma Pillsbury has become my newest fashion icon and I can't wait until episodes start up again in January.

Sultry Sequins

A couple of weeks ago, I was at my boyfriend's house and his mom was going through things in the attic in preparation for Christmas decorating. She pulled out old cookware, baby things, and a bag of vintage clothing :) Most of the items didn't fit (gotta love those curves) but I couldn't believe when she pulled out this sequin top. I was thrilled, and I'm not sure that she understood why as it was really old and slightly stained. I finally was able to pull it together in an outfit today and wore it as a vest.

As if the sequins weren't enough, I added a few rhinestone encrusted clip-on earring on the neckline.

Victorian Chic

I was inspired by Monday's episode of Gossip Girl. Blair kept wearing all of these flowy collared shirts with big brooches in the center and it was so chic, I just had to create a version of my own. I luckily have this cameo pin from my grandmother that was the perfect compliment to the color pallet of my cream vintage top and light pink tank. What was even more exciting were these skinny pants I got from Ann Taylor Loft. They are like legging pants, fit like a glove, and actually don't make my legs look giant!!!

Pretty Punky

Today's look was really more about mixing a pretty look with something more edgy. I paired this gorgeous brooch headwrap with a structured patterned top. Also, my leggings, worn as pants today, are a matte lame with a snakeskin motif to give it that extra edge. All are from Urban Outfitters.

Dance Party...punk style!

I was a little hesitant to wear my headwrap across my forehead but it actually made me feel glamorous, as if I had a tiara on. Yay for feeling pretty, and like a little punk.

Scarf-tastic

Today, I was inspired by a new blog I have been reading Orchid Grey. I loved how she used a scarf to create texture and pattern to a dress. I paired my scarf with a basic black dress I wear all the time to give it a new pattern. It also covered up the fact that I am all bloaty today. Boo for being a girl :(

Halloween Presents: Princess Peach

I usually don't get into Halloween but this year, we were also celebrating my niece's 1st birthday by dressing up. My boyfriend and I decided to go as Mario and Princess Peach as an homage to our Nintendo playing days. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I can't wait to dress up next year!

I found this dress on eBay for $15 and decided to give our costumes a cartoon effect by creating foam accessories. My brooch was made of foam as well as my crown.

Also, we thought it would be more fun for my boyfriend to be the raccoon Mario so I attached a feather boa that looked like a raccoon's tail and added foam ears to his hat (also purchased on eBay).

My niece as a bee! Isn't she the cutest? Surprisingly, she kept on the antennas all night!

Nights of Macomb Part 2

Remember how I said how strange I felt being back there? Well a lot of it had to do with going out to the bars. Since I've been out of college and working full-time, I've really cut back on drinking and partying. I don't miss it, but the one thing I do miss is seeing the college fashion (insert sarcasm here). Apparently, people, of all body shapes and sizes, thought it was appropriate to wear tunic tops as dresses without tights or leggings. They were so short. Very, VERY, short. I think at one point I even saw a girl's, well you know...
It was entertaining but I have to wonder...
Are people wearing these things because they are clubbing and it is hot? Are they seeing these ensembles in print or displayed at retail that way? Or is it just part of the college fashion of cheap clothing that only seems appropriate when you are in the middle of well, nowhere?

As for me, I saved the best outfit for my last day. Here is the continuation of my fashion ensembles in Macomb last weekend.

Bomber Jacket: H&M
Sheer Tank: Delia's
Mermaid Skirt: Mod Cloth
Necklace: Claire's Accessories

I decided to give myself a crown of braids. It was girly, but gave me that rocker girl edge.

On the balcony of The Forum in Macomb. Yes, it's a tad blurry, but you get the idea. I'm a badass....in my jacket.

Nights of Macomb Part 1

This past weekend, I drove 4 hours to Macomb, IL to join in on the Homecoming festivities of 2009. Since I hadn't been back since I graduated, it was a bit strange for me staying in the cornfields again. Also, since I hadn't seen most of my sorority sisters and past friends in a year and a half, I went all out and put together a couple of great outfits. The first look was a bit more casual to start the weekend off.

I love this tunic I purchased from a boutique in Arizona. The neckline makes an accessory all on its own.

Vamp Girl

I was very inspired today by Monday's episode of Gossip Girl. Not so much the bright-colored tights, but the layered and multi-chained necklaces that Georgina was wearing.

Dress: The Gap
Tights" JCPenney
Belt: Merona by Target
Shoes: Zigi Soho
Jewelry: Vintage

I layered 1 vintage chain necklace with 2 costume pearl necklaces and added 2 clip-on earrings for extra texture to this necklace.

I also love these shoes. The added platform on the upper part of sole gives it that pin-up girl look.

Warrior Princess

I felt like a warrior princess today. I bought this belt at a boutique in Tempe, AZ a couple of weeks ago and have already worn it twice! I call it my ammunition belt. I love the studded detail plus it's stretch so it's very versatile. I paired it with my gladiator Birkenstock's and sweater dress I've been waiting for cooler weather to wear. Even my hair screams fighter today with the curls simply going MAD! Not to mention my kick butt attitude I had today at work. Go Me!

Dress: Khols
Leggings: Icings
Sandals: Birkenstocks
Necklace: Vintage
Belt: Divaz Boutique in Arizona
Ring: Francesca's Collection

I love this stretch ring from Francesca's. The flower detail is just so beautiful and it fits on nearly every finger!

Channeling Michael Jackson

It's black, it's white...it's a two-tone tight!! Got these tights in a sample bin from work, but these can be found at American Apparel as well as Hot Topic. I got mixed review today at work. A few glares, but also a few praises claiming I was the only one that could pull it off.

Cool Summer

Since this summer has been less than climactic (literally), I felt it was my last opportunity to wear my tonal blue, leopard print maxi dress while on a weekend trip to Arizona. The scenery in the mountains of Prescott was breathtaking and I couldn't stay away from the balcony in my hotel room, so... what better place to have a photo shoot?
